Ziplet approached us as ‘Loop’; a leading Melbourne based Ed-Tech app, allowing teachers to gather student feedback digitally. After receiving some fresh funding, the tech startup was eyeing off expansion into the lucrative US and European markets. The roadblock was not being able to secure a primary .com domain or a trademark for Loop. We worked with the team to conduct a thorough customer discovery phase to inform a new global brand position. This brand position would be expressed through a new name, tone of voice and visual identity as well as key messaging.

Student feedback made easy

The customer research indicated that Loop’s app was the easiest and fastest way for teachers to gather student feedback. This was distilled in the ‘big idea’ of student feedback made easy. Using this as a launchpad we generated over 400 name options with the non-negotiable of .com being available. Ziplet was chosen for its zippy, easy and fast nature, with testing showing the name performed extremely well on recall and did not possess any cross-cultural issues. Primary .com domain and trademark registration were available. From there a bright and differentiated visual identity was created, reiterating the easy speedy nature of the product. A refreshing tone of voice and punchy messaging rounded off the brand expression.
